JEWELRY CARE GUIDE

Here's some guidelines to care for your new treasures.

Remove before before contact with water.

While occasional contact won't seriously damage most metals or gemstones, it's best to avoid immersing jewelery in water for prolonged periods of time. Remove whenever possible, even when showering. Hard water and soap scum won't damage most metals & stones themselves, but it will certainly make gold less shiny, gems less sparkly, and can tarnish silver & brass.

This also applies to waters that contain chlorine, salt, or any other harsh chemicals– which means you should remove before going on a cleaning spree, too.

Remove before strenous activity

You may want to consider removing jewelry before physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise. While certain pieces and activites may be fine to keep on, use your best judgement. If the activity is very tough on your hands, you could risk damaging your stone or it's setting (or getting dirt/soil stuck up in there!) Lastly, necklace chains could get tangled up in your hair, or caught on something and break!

Clean your jewelry occasionally

Most jewelry can be carefully cleaned about once a month, using warm water with a tiny bit of natural dish soap and a soft toothbrush. (If you're removing your jewelry before showering, swimming etc, then cleaning is the only contact your jewelry will have with water, so it's okay!) After cleaning, make sure you dry the jewelry using a paper towel or soft cloth to avoid further tarnishing.

It's best to do a quick google-search about cleaning the specific metal or gemstones you have, but you can also email us for advice! Lastly, to keep your jewelry in tip-top shape, consider taking your pieces to a jeweler to be professionally every 6 months or so.
